Born and raised a country girl I am far from what you could call a girly girl.  If I’m not in barn clothes then I am in sweat pants, most people tease me that thats all I own.  I have dress clothes and make up like most people just choose not to wear them the majority of the time.

Well, my friends see things differently and decided one day to take my appearence into their own hands.  I was sworn to wear the clothes picked out; skirt, fancy tight pink shirt, and some dangerously high wedge heels.  Hair fixed and make up on I headed to class feeling pretty good about life.  The building my class was in that day goes at an incline gradually which I was handling well in my flip flop wedges.

I was walking a little slower than usual obviously trying to be lady like walk properly which gave people ample oppurtunity to pass me.  I noticed out of the corner of my eye a very handsome, tall, very buff boy coming next to me.  Feeling pretty brave that day I was just turning to smile and possibly strike up conversation while we walked but the momentary break in concentration from walking caused me to fall out of my shoes just as he was turning to look at me!!   So, trying to be quick on my feet, literally, I attempted to strike a pose against the wall and nothing happened but didn’t seem to work since he walked away laughing.

I regained my composure and continued to class when just outside my door I get a monsterous charlie horse, fell to the ground clutching my leg, wondering why any one would put themselves through this on a daily basis!  After that day, I wouldn’t count on seeing this country girl in anything other than sweats and tennis shoes; wranglers and boots!

How Traumatic!

I’m sure most of you have heard the song Homeby Blake Shelton.  As I write this I am repeatedly playing it.  Music for me has always been a sort of get away from any “issues” I may be having– generally the worse the situation the louder my music goes.  I’m about five hours from “home” and I’m dying to get back and get away from everything!  That song for some reason always makes me feel better when I get homesick.

I have had horses all my life, until now, at college and have lived in the country until college time came last year and I had a reality check when I was thrown into the city life.  I have a great house in a very nice neighborhood but it’s just not home!  The hustle and bustle of large cities with people everywhere just gets old after so long!

Blake states it perfectly when he sings “I feel just like I’m living some one else’s life”.  I am not a city kid by any means and not having horses to run away to is the hardest part.  After all, ‘there’s nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse!’

“I’ve had my run… Let me go home, I wanna go home”
